Concern about racist attitudes in Ballymena

Ballymena SDLP councillor Declan O’Loan has expressed serious concern about racist attitudes in Ballymena. He wants the community to do everything possible to counter these attitudes, and to show a real welcome to ethnic minority workers.

He said, “The number of recent incidents is very worrying. There are also rumours going around which along with actual incidents are causing a sense of fear. It is imperative that all who reject such prejudiced behaviour do everything in their power to make new workers feel at home. We should be a welcoming community. These workers in the best of situations have a difficult time and are far from home. They deserve our support ant they need it just now.”
